Players from the club will be taking on the Yorkshire 3 Peaks challenge on Saturday 6th April. This fundraising event will be in aid of Nostell St. Oswald CC and Yorkshire Cancer Research. All funds raised will be split 50/50 between the club and charity.
Regular visitors to Garmil Lane will notice that the clubhouse is in constant need of repair and the club work hard to keep the facilities up to standard. However, the funds available are always limited so launching this fundraising challenge will enable monies to be raised towards the purchase of a new kitchen space. This is something that can be enjoyed by players, supporters and visitors to the club over a number of years.
The club were keen to involve a local charity as part of the event so that funds could be raised for two great causes. Yorkshire Cancer Research among other things help to raise awareness of an awful disease that 1 in 2 of us will face in our lives. Cancer is something that affects us all and the guys taking part feel very strongly about raising money for the charity and supporting the cause in Yorkshire.
Nostell St. Oswald have set up a crowdfunding page with the ambitious aim of raising £1,000 online and £2,500 including offline sponsorship. This will be split 50/50 between Nostell St. Oswald CC and Yorkshire Cancer Research. Any money donated, however big or small, will be greatly appreciated by all taking part.
Nostell St. Oswald chairman, Lincoln Steele, commented: "We wanted to do something that could raise money for the club and the guys have really got behind the idea of this challenge! I think its great that we can work together, not just for the club but for charity too. It is going to be tough, espcially for those that are unfit like myself, but I have thrown myself into training and I cannot wait!"
